Du hast jeden Raum
mit Sonne geflutet
hast jeden Verdruss
ins Gegenteil verkehrt

It feels so good to be posting :D Because it makes me feel somewhat productive. Yay.

The same profiles I am really insecure about, but with hairstyles. Ok, it's even harder to see the facial differences now D: Sigh. One day I will be awesome at faces. I feel like I am pressure/like I want to go more cartoony or something?

Obviously I don't like scholars very much. Also: rat-nymph and Brandon-vulture.
my sketchbook is filled with this shit D:

miette doodles for aya n.n

i love this sketch, and I feel like I really want to get a ref for it and redraw it, but I can't think of any method to really get what I want across besides pencil sketch. I don't know what to do with it either. No I'm not emo, neither is Solais, but sometimes the pressure of being a healer/doctor is really awful.

D: more scheisse~ I'll give you different faces!

Unicorn boy for Laura n.n I like this a lot ~ omg i love drawing hoofies so much! And with curlies in brush pen *-*

Yvonel face thing, used a ref of sorts ~ my god is she manly o_O but I still think she is gorgeous and damn I wish I was her.

das ist alle :P

aah I'm so sorry I've not commented on anything you posted anywhere lately, I just didn't really get the chance to even though it felt like it was important for you to receive feedback :[

Anyways, the Profiles! I saw them on dA already and I recognized all your characters immediately (except Chyare and Yenshisa, but that's because I know next to nothing about them. I only know Chyare has to do with Lundral but... Yenshisa? who is she? :0 )

Anyways. I read up on your earlier journal entries and wherever you posted and stumbled over the profiles you put on dA and one of the crits on it, I guess that was the one you were so fussed about. I have to say I can actually understand the point that person made (not that opening the post with nearly something on the lines of "They all look the same D:" helps), but I do also understand the points you made. The thing is, not everyone looks as detailed into one's pictures as one would wish. Or rarely anyone rather. I just tried to lower my expectations people would see in my pictures what I want them to.
Back to topic. yes, the people all DO look alike. AND different. Why? They look alike because people are all just that, people. And so there has to be some similarity in facial structure. They ALSO look alike, and I think that is the most important point I'm trying to make now: because your drawing style is so detailed.
Lots of the little differences between the people you drew are, well, little, because your drawing style is not so cartoony that you can exaggerate the features so much that the difference whacks itself in your face. Your drawing style is much more natural and the difference is in the detail - one might think at first that all of them look similar but if one looks closer at the characters one sees the characteristics of them. Yvonel and Laudon look more similar than some others maybe but still like two different people. They both have a strong chin and curled out lips and still look like different people. (and may I say Yvonel actually looks immedaitely like a woman to me on that pic?).
I can see that Lundral's nose is stubbier than Chyare's, Neanddir's Grecian Profile (with the kinda set-back lips.. if that's how you say it?), The similarities between Solais and Miisha and his dad - he's got the general face of his father somehow but the eyebrows and nose and mouth remind me of his mother a lot. Solais has a small, set-back chin and Roxy has pretty big eyes.

So you see, there ARE visible differences if one cares to look at the pic for longer than just a moment. (And by the way, I think that adding the hair doesn't make them look less diverse, they just belong to a person and somehow express their personality a bit as well).
I can see also some things that are kinda similar throughout the whole picture, that might either be because it's just stuck in your style or because you haven't played around with it enough. Possibly both. What I mean is that you can actually make them even more different from each other. You can still exaggerate some things. For example, the noses. I can see that you tried making them different but the nosetips for example are mostly pretty similar. Some people have nosewings folded inwards, some have bulby noses, some have rounded nosetips, some have flat ones and some more pointy ones.
Maybe you don't want your characters to have noses like that, I can understand that but it's just my suggestions. Plus it's just hard to show differences on such a small scale.
Something else which is pretty different with people, sit he three thirds of the face. (Know what I mean? 1/3 of it is from scalp to nose, 2/3 the whole nose and 3/3 from nosetip to chin) Those vary a lot with people and can be used well to show differences. Lots of people have a high or low forehead. some have eyebrows just above their eyes, some higher ones. Some have a greater distance between their mouth and nose than others.
I'm not saying you didn't make use of that, for example I can see different nose lenghts and shapes, differences in their chins and different eyebrows. I'm just saying you COULD make this more noticavle even without getting a cartoony style.

I can feel with you on this subject I think as it's my main goal to be able to draw different types of people and make my own characters easy to recognize. I've had lots of stupid and non-helpful comments on this and found out - it's not always the own inability to show differences. Mostly it's really people who don't bother looking at the pictures properly. YOU can try to work on displaying stuff even better and more close to your imagination though, and you should do that. Just please don't be disappointed if people don't see your efforts. It's hard, I know, and I'm probably no help with this, but maybe I managed to give you a little more security, especially since I'm sure I know your feelings here.

And something I had to add - Yvonel is great on this, I love the bold personality her face gives!
