das unbedingte

It's time for another update! Last update of the year, woo! I've had this blog for two and a half years. Wow. I'm impressed I could keep it up this long. I really like this blog, I hope I can continue with it in the future. I had a sketchblog many years ago that lasted maybe over a year or so before I quit. But it's fun to post stuff I wouldn't normally post, so here's to another year. Enjoy.

I found that when I had to listen to lectures online for my Kosher & Halal foods class, drawing while listening helps. And I like doing speedpaints, they're fun. Not my photo, make no claims, etc etc. Just for practice.

My first foray into Illustrator in a long time. I love molas, could you tell?

From oCing with Felix. Fericksu, I miss you ~

Second thing done in Illustrator; a new opening for my site. I like how it turned out, but maybe not for my opening page, so it may change. Still, I find Illustrator to be really infuriating coming from a painter's perspective.

Saw pictures of interesting Nepali dress and wanted to get the same feel with the colors and shapes. I guess it's not meant to be anthropological, because I admit my failure of knowledge about Nepali clothes and designs, just meant to be optically appealing :p

Tiny sketch. Human Axel, with massive sideburns to make up for the lost ears. I got a new scanner, and this is one of the first things I scanned - not too sure I like it :/ meh.

For those of you who don't know, I started fencing. I'm terrible at it. Rhys would be better. Here's Rhys in a lunge.

Not a great pic, but it's something. I'm mildly obsessed with Magic Knight Rayearth again. Hikaru and her dark heart counterpart, Nova.

Mildly obsessed? Ok, I'm a bit nuts for it, forgive me some nostalgia and happiness. A new design for a slightly older Hikaru. She dresses like I used to dress when I was 16 :P

New Umi. They describe her as being beautiful like a model, so ok, I made her tall and lanky with legs that go forever and some stylish duds.

New Fuu. Wanted to get away from the shy-librarian look most people would assume for her, and just give her some casual clothes and some modern glasses.

Rayearth, Hikaru's Rune-God/Mashin, in his wolf/lion form. Horns + animals that don't usually have them = instant win, in my book.

Actually part of a gift for someone, but I assume they don't look here anymore so I feel safe sneaking it in here before I actually send it to them ;D

Sharks were my dolphins when I was a wee pupa. This is not a good representation of one. It looks like a unholy hybrid of a black-tipped reef shark and a common dolphin.

Sketch of Iibe, who is Jormei's wife... I have plans for her, I think~~~ She doesn't pla a role in my main story, but I thought about writing Jormei's story as a separate entity. *plots*

Oh, congratulations for keeping one blog for 2½ years! This post is really awesome, you have a great drawingstyle and your pencil's line is beautiful.

I actually am a big fan of traditional sketchies, not digital paintings but you make both look beautiful.

I like your illustrates, keep up the fantastic work! :-)

Wow, I wouldn't have thought that this blog is in existence for so long already, I think I remember your first postings here and it doesn't feel too long ago!
I hope you keep up posting, as you said it's really nice to have some spot sort of for yourself to post things. I know I like to do that, even though I don't do it often enough because scanning is a bitch at home here xD
Plus, I love looking at our stuff, even though I don't always have the time to do so longer than for just a glance or to even comment.
I still love it, looking at speedpaints/sketches etc. gives me so much more than "just" looking at the masterpieces of someone in their portfolio. It feels more personal and inspiring.
Ah, so much blabbering, just don't stop!

and now I'm gonna comment because this horrible horrible year is almost over and I'm on vacation which means time, yay!

I love the first picture a lot!
It looks like some sort of sunken city-thing, and all the wire-like pillars ec. make it look like it was... nothing too pretty while still in it's original shape, maybe even some sort of raw building site; and the flooding made it more beautiful by adding lively blue and green and fish and waterplans *_* the lighting is just magical and makes me want to see/explore something like it for real, harhar.
I love how it iluminates the fins of the fishes (hey look like the type we once had at home and which Nyarai is based off *w* )

heehee Molas are awesome <3 I saw one of them in Barcelona and it was... not as cute as I thought, but very impressive. SO HUGE! and a bit weird if I look close, I mean...what's the matter with those tailfins, haha xD

The oc picture I like, too <3
hrrm you always remind me to draw men more shapely, and less boxy, it can work! XD

The solais picture looks really nice, I love the freshness of the colors and it's interesting to see how your style works in sort of cel-shading. Truth to be told, I thought it wouldn'T do the realism of your syle any justice and sort of...kill the detailed and organic appeal of it, but actually it looks pretty good! (well, art noveau works too so... ).
I had to giggle at the leg hair, haha xD and for some reason, she reminded me of my mother here. Just prettier xD

I want her clothes. And hair. And the tea set. Or drink tea with her, that would be awesome. XD

Nothing much to say about the nepali picture actually, other than that you paint the most lively vibrant neonblues that would hurt my eyes under other circumstances. <3 plus your oriental-ish faces are lovely <3

Haha, Axel looks suddenly more manly having traded the foxy-ears for sideburns. It is a nice exchange but somehow the fluffyness of it clashes with his silky long mane, idk. It's a good idea in any case <3

Oooh fencing *_* I read about it in your MKR fanart descriptions and it sounds so interesting, I've actually wanted to try that too (like...pretty much every fighting-sport, ahaha). Rhys looks adorable here, especially his face. Even though it seems sorta different to me, idk. Maybe I haven't looked at him for a very long time xD

speaking of MKR... hah! I read it yeeeeeaars ago when a friend bought the manga and while I'm not so much into the magical girl and shojo superheroine stuff I really liked it! It's wonderful to see some (unexpected) anime fanart from you especially when it's so nostalgic <3
I do not remember nova though, maybe she's some anime-only part?
I LOOOOVE how you transferred them to your style though, they look so much more lifelike and less...squeaky? oh god coherence xD anyways, I like how you put them your way, more realistic and exactly how I'd wish for them to look in a life-action movie or something (if I wasn't so skeptical about life-action movies haha)... they look like real people, even Umi's blue hair doesn't look out of place.

yay colorful watercolorsplatter!hikari! I love it!

The brownish picture is gorgeous, I love all the shapes involved, especially the folds. awrrrm <3 and the brownnes of it with just slight touches of gold and white... somehow that makes it look more ...royal or something. like ivory! <3

dolphinsharks FTW, seriously.
Sharks have beautiful fins I always thought <3 for some reason my dolphin-replacement was crocodiles, lol.

Iibe is GORGEOUS. I love her face, it looks very unique and pretty.

[Edit:
when writing this comment I saw the keywords and OMFG YOU CRAZY WOMAN. I didn't dare say anything about the Chari pic because I wasn't 100% sure it was for me and felt like I didn't deserve something like that and THEN saying "oh is this for me? it looks an awful lot like chari!" when it possibly wasn't would have been ... AWKWARD and overall D:
ICH BIN ELEKTRISIERT. Echt jetzt awww ;_________;"" I'm an incoherent puddle right now ;o; ]
